National Disability Insurance Scheme
The NDIS provides people with disability more freedom to choose the disability services and support they need. You will have more control in planning how to make use of the services and support you need now and in the future.
Who is eligible?
The NDIS is run by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), a government body, who determines which people are eligible to take part in the scheme.
You may be eligible for the NDIS if you:
• are an Australian citizen or permanent resident
• are under 65 years old (when you first use the scheme)
• have a permanent or lifelong disability or condition that stops you from doing everyday things yourself.\

State Wide Equipment Program
The State-wide Equipment Program (SWEP) is a sub-division of Ballarat Health Services which oversees a number of different 'assistive technology' programs.
SWEP provides Victorian people who either have a permanent or long-term disability or are frail aged with subsidised aids, equipment and home and vehicle modifications to enhance their independence and facilitate community participation.
How can SWEP help you?
SWEP provides a subsidy towards the cost of equipment and/or modifications to improve independence in your home, assist in community participation and support families and carers in their role. This is provided through a number of programs, details of which are available on the link below. Reissue equipment is also provided where appropriate.
